THE CITY RECEIVES THE AB 890 WATER QUALITY STUDY

On October 11, 2009, the California Assembly passed a bill, AB 890, requiring the public water systems serving the City of Maywood to conduct a study on the City’s water supply and address the impacts of manganese. The goal of AB 890 is to determine the extent of manganese impact on the City of Maywood’s drinking water and the potential actions needed to address the situation. AB 890 specifies that a study be conducted to identify the sources of manganese and the immediate and long-term infrastructure improvements that can be considered to reduce levels of the manganese and other contaminants, and bring the water to the same standards as that of nearby neighborhoods. In compliance with AB 890, a copy of the study was submitted to the City in December 2010 and is available for public review by clicking on the following link: MaywoodWaterQuality.

El 11 de octubre de 2009, la Asamblea de California aprobó un proyecto de ley AB 890, que requieren los sistemas de agua públicos al servicio de la Ciudad de Maywood para llevar a cabo un estudio sobre el abastecimiento de agua de la ciudad y frente a los efectos de manganeso. El objetivo de la ley AB 890 es para determinar el grado de impacto del manganeso en el agua potable de la Ciudad de Maywood y las acciones posibles para abordar la situación. AB 890 se especifica que se realizara un estudio para identificar las fuentes de manganeso y las mejoras de infraestructura a corto y largo plazo que pueden ser consideradas para reducir los niveles de manganeso y otros contaminantes, y traer el agua a las mismas normas que la de los barrios cercanos. NEW CITY HALL OFFICE HOURS

Effective Monday, May 17, 2010, Maywood City Hall will be open from Monday through Thursday, from 8 am until 5 pm. CITY HALL WILL BE CLOSED EVERY FRIDAY. Maywood Residents may continue to access city-related information through this web site as well as pay their bills online with a Visa, Discover or Master Card credit card.

HIGH-EFFICIENCY TOILET REPLACEMENT PROGRAM

The City of Maywood has been awarded a conservation grant from the California Department of Water Resources, which includes funding through the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to provide free high-efficiency toilets, including installation for qualifying multi-family properties. GRAFFITI ABATEMENT SERVICES

The City has contracted with Graffiti Protective Coatings Inc. to remove graffiti in our City. GPC started on September 1, 2001 and will be paid from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) monies.

Please call to report any graffiti to the graffiti abatement 24 hour "hotline", the number is (888) 336-3353 OR (323) 562-5700 (Option 7).

CITY OF MAYWOOD POLICE SERVICES

As of Thursday, July 1, 2010, the City of Maywood contracted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as its policing service provider. Despite this change, Maywood residents will continue to dial 911 FOR ALL EMERGENCY SERVICES. Non-emergency matters will be handled from two locations.

East LA Sheriffs Station/Jail The nearby East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station will address non-emergency police questions and concerns including requests for police reports and auto towing issues, which occurred AFTER the Sheriff’s, began working in Maywood on July 1, 2010. NEW Maywood Community Safety Service Desk

Maywood residents may request police reports and towing-related information for incidents that were initiated by the former Maywood Police Department BEFORE July 1, 2010 at the Maywood Community Safety Service Desk (formerly Maywood Police Department). The desk is open Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm. Maywood residents may also call the bilingual line at (323) 562-5732.

A partir del 1 de julio del 2010, el Departamento del Alguacil del Condado de Los Ángeles, conocido como el “Sheriff”, será el proveedor de servicios policiales en la ciudad de Maywood. A pesar de este cambio, los residentes de Maywood seguirán llamando al 911 PARA TODAS SUS EMERGENCIAS. Los asuntos que no son emergencias serán tratados desde dos oficinas.

Estación/cárcel del Alguacil del Este de Los Ángeles La estación/cárcel cercana del Alguacil en el este de Los Ángeles proveerá reportes policiales e información sobre autos detenidos en Maywood por el Alguacil DESPUES del 1 de julio del 2010, cuando se hicieron cargo por servicios policiales en la ciudad.

Nuevo: Servicios de Seguridad de la Comunidad de Maywood

Se podrá obtener información sobre asuntos policiales procesados bajo el cargo del antiguo departamento policial de Maywood ANTES del 1 de julio del 2010 en La Oficina de Servicios de Seguridad de la Comunidad de Maywood. Esto incluirá reportes policiales e información sobre autos confiscados por la grúa. Las oficinas están ubicadas en la antigua oficina del Departamento de Policías de Maywood y estarán disponibles de lunes a jueves de 8 AM a 5 PM. Favor de comunicarse al (323) 562-5732.
