Household Hazardous Waste should never be placed in Universal Waste Systems trash, recycling, or green waste.


For example, but not limited to:

  • Abrasive cleaners
  • Antifreeze
  • Batteries
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Motor oil
  • Paint
  • Pesticides
  • Prescription drugs
  • Sharps/syringes/lancets
  • Transmission fluid

Recycling Centers

Information on disposing of household hazardous waste and e-waste can be obtained by calling 888-Clean-LA (800-238-0172). You can also dispose of used motor oil at more than 600 oil recycling centers in Los Angeles County. For a complete listing call 888-Clean-LA.

Upcoming Event

The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Events, operated by the Los Angeles County and Sanitation Districts, are FREE one-day, drive-through collection events where residents can drop off their HHW and electronic waste (e-waste). The event below will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (unless otherwise noted). Rain or shine,
